OXOID EXPANDS PREPARED MEDIA PRODUCTION FACILITIES IN THE UK
As one of the world’s leading culture media manufacturers and the largest supplier of high quality prepared culture media in the UK, Oxoid Limited has witnessed a growing trend towards the use of prepared media products across many market sectors. Oxoid has responded to this growth by expanding its prepared media production operation in Perth , Scotland . The company has invested in a new, purpose-built facility, which has more than doubled their prepared media production capacity in the UK and is well equipped to meet future demands.
Oxoid prepared media products are prepared to the highest standards using high quality Oxoid culture media. The products are prepared, poured, packaged and stored under optimum conditions, and are supplied with QC certification and CE marking. Customers are welcome to inspect the new Oxoid Prepared Media production facility for themselves, as further assurance of the quality of the entire service. Amongst the first visitors to the new site was Dr David Petts, Head Biomedical Scientist in the Department of Microbiology at Basildon and Thurrock University Hospitals , Essex .
“We no longer have the facilities for in-house media production and so good quality prepared culture media products are essential to our laboratory,” explained Dr Petts. “Oxoid offers the range and presentations that we need, and passed all our quality requirements. I visited the site in Perth as part of our procurement procedure. I was very impressed with the whole ethos of quality control, quality assurance and quality improvement at Oxoid, which is very much facilitated by the new custom-designed factory. Oxoid is able to provide quality and attention to detail at a level that could not be achieved by a routine microbiology laboratory.”
