OXOID LAB TECHNICIAN OF THE YEAR VISITS USA

As part of his prize as winner of the 2003/2004 Oxoid Laboratory Technician of the Year Award, Andrew Snelson of Cadbury Trebor Bassett has just returned from a trip to the International Association of Food Protection (IAFP) Annual Meeting that was held in Phoenix, Arizona, USA.

Andrew not only flew to Phoenix and attended the meeting as a guest of Oxoid, but his prize also included a cheque for £1,000, a trophy and celebrity guest status at an Awards Dinner held in the UK earlier this year. At the IAFP Official Dinner in Phoenix Andrew was also acknowledged as winner of the Oxoid Award and received a round of applause from food safety and hygiene professionals from around the world.

During the IAFP meeting Andrew attended food hygiene and safety seminars including many on emerging pathogens such as Enterobacter sakazakii, but it wasn’t all work as he also found time to do some sight-seeing in the Grand Canyon!
