Merger of Fisher Scientific International and Thermo Electron Corporation

We are pleased to announce the merger between Fisher Scientific International, Oxoid’s parent company, and Thermo Electron Corporation. Fisher Scientific has always been known for the breadth of its product offering to Scientific Research. Thermo Electron brings with it an established commitment to innovation and customer service excellence.

This merger creates Thermo Fisher Scientific, the world leader in serving science with 30,000 employees worldwide. Attached is a letter from Mr Marijn Dekkers, President and CEO of the new organisation. The mission of the combined organisation is to “… enable customers to make the world healthier, cleaner and safer.” This is clearly consistent with Oxoid’s own objectives and we are confident that as part of Thermo Fisher Scientific, we will continue to meet your needs.

Within the new organisation, Oxoid will continue to serve our customers with our special focus of “Dedication to Microbiology”. Your sales and service contacts will be unchanged. Our commercial documentation such as invoices and despatch notes will continue to be issued by Oxoid Limited. This web site, www.oxoid.com will remain a central source of information about Oxoid and our products. Over the coming months, you will notice a change in our stationery and business cards which will both feature the new Thermo Fisher Scientific logo. In addition, our email addresses will change to @thermofisher.com with immediate effect, although the former @oxoid.com addresses will still be operational for a transition period.
