Introduction

IDEIA™ Hp StAR™ is an amplified immunoassay for the direct detection of Helicobacter pylori antigen in faecal samples.

This kit will perform 96 tests

Principle of the Test

The test utilises highly specific monoclonal antibodies combined with a polymer dextran conjugate to achieve high sensitivity and specificity. IDEIA™ Hp StAR™ can be used to aid the diagnosis of Helicobacter pylori infection in both adults and children, and can also be used to monitor eradication therapy.
Helicobacter pylori infection is the most common cause of gastritis, and is involved in gastric ulcer, duodenal ulcer and gastric adenocarcinoma. It is also the causative agent in a high percentage of dyspepsia cases. European guidelines for the management of dyspepsia recommend the use of either a faecal antigen test or urea breath test for accurate diagnosis prior to the administration of eradication therapy.
