Introduction
RAPID Hp StAR™ is an amplified immunochromatographic assay for the rapid direct detection of Helicobacter pylori antigen in faecal samples.
This kit will perform 20 tests.
Principle of the Test
The test utilises the same highly specific monoclonal antibodies used in IDEIA Hp StAR™ (K663011-2) combined with an amplified capture reagent to give enhanced sensitivity. RAPID Hp StAR™ can be used to aid the diagnosis of H pylori infection in adults, and can also be used to monitor eradication therapy.
H pylori infection is the most common cause of dyspepsia, and is also involved in gastric ulcers, duodenal ulcers and gastric adenocarcinoma. European guidelines for the management of dyspepsia recommend the use of either a faecal antigen test (e.g. RAPID or IDEIA Hp StAR™) or urea breath test for an accurate diagnosis of H pylori status prior to the administration of eradication therapy.
