Soya Peptone is obtained by the hydrolysis of soya flour and complies with the USP specification (ref 9). In additon to its nitrogen constituents, this peptone has a high carbohydrate content and is suitable for many purposes. The presence of the sugars stachyose, raffinose, sucrose and various reducing sugars may be of importance in certain applications. It is widely used in culture media and is often used for the cultivation of many fastidious organisms and where rapid, luxuriant growth is required.
