Catalog number: R30164601

Validate your test procedures with Thermo Scientific™ Remel™ Streptex™ Positive Control.

Streptex is a rapid latex test system used to detect and identify the Lancefield Groups of streptococci A, B, C, D, F and G and contains all components necessary for the system.

The test utilizes latex particles sensitized with group-specific antibodies which agglutinate in presence of homologous antigens. Streptex Positive Control reagent is polyvalent positive control supplied as an accessory for the Streptex kit.

Streptococci can be generally classified as alpha, beta, or gamma based on their hemolytic reactions indicated by appearance of zones around colonies growing on blood agar. Beta-hemolytic streptococci are further characterized by Lancefield groups.

Most streptococci possess group-specific antigens which are usually carbohydrate structural components of the cell wall. Lancefield showed that these antigens can be extracted in soluble form and identified by precipitation reactions with homologous antisera1. Polystyrene latex particles coated with group-specific antibodies agglutinate strongly in the presence of homologous antigen and remain in smooth suspension in the absence of homologous antigen. The extraction enzyme used is freeze-dried proteolytic fraction obtained from Streptomyces griseus cultures, containing calcium chloride.

  • Ready to use - Latex suspension is supplied as Ready to use reagent

  • Economical solution - Maximize spending efficiency with the option of purchasing separate kit components

  • Color-coded reagent - Red cap

Streptex Polyvalent Positive Control reagent contains a polyvalent extract of antigens from a representative strain of each streptococcal group A, B, C, D, F and G, supplied in single plastic dropper bottles. The solution contains phosphate buffer pH 7.4 and 0.1% sodium azide as preservative.
