MODIFIED BRUCELLA SELECTIVE SUPPLEMENT

A selective supplement containing Natamycin as an alternative to cycloheximide for the isolation of Brucella species.

Vial contents (each vial is sufficient for 500 ml of medium)
Polymixin B	2,500 IU
Bacitracin	12,500 IU
Natamycin	25.0 mg
Nalidixic acid	2.5 mg
Nystatin	50,000 IU
Vancomycin	10.0 mg

Directions
Reconstitute one vial as directed, aseptically add the contents to 500 ml Brucella Medium Base, Columbia Agar Base or Blood Agar Base No.2 together with 5-10% v/v inactivated horse serum SR0035 and 1-5% w/v sterile solution of glucose, cooled to approximately 50°C. Mix well and pour into sterile Petri dishes.
