TOXIN DETECTION FROM FATTY FOODS
Food samples which are high in fat e.g. cheese may require a slightly amended protocol when testing with Oxoid Toxin Detection kits.
1. Add 10 grams of the
food sample to 10 mL of saline and homogenise.
2. Adjust the suspension to
pH 4.0 with 4N hydrochloric acid.
3. Centrifuge and filter as per kit instructions.
4. Adjust the supernatant/filtrate
to pH 6-8 and use in RPLA test.
